Stop Hunger Now
Stop Hunger Now is a non-profit international aid organization founded in 1998 and based out of Raleigh, North Carolina. The organization pursues its vision, “a world without hunger”, by delivering vital food and aid to the world’s most vulnerable people. What sets Stop Hunger Now apart from other hunger relief organizations is its meal packaging program. Starting in 2005, the organization streamlined the assembly process and created a meal packaging process that is both mobile and highly adaptable, allowing for as few as 25 and as many as 500 people to take part in the process at once. These meals consist of rice, soy, dehydrated vegetables and flavoring and contain 21 vitamins and minerals. The means are also cheap, costing only 29 cents to produce each, and have a shelf life of up to two years. This unique approach to food aid and assistance has allowed Stop Hunger Now to provide over 149,635,992 meals to 65 countries, with thousands more being packaged every week.
According to Charity Navigator, Stop Hunger Now receives an overall score 56.54 out of 70, three out of four stars. Stop Hunger Now allocated an impressive 89.9% of its total financial resources towards its programs, with only 7.8% allocated towards administrative expenses and 2.3% allocated for fundraising. Additionally, Stop Hunger Now consistently spends the vast majority of its revenue on its programs, whether its primary revenue increases or decreases from year to year. The organization has room to grown financially, but overall, its Charity Navigator profile reflects favorably on its commitment to providing as much aid as possible to as many people as possible.
